"15 Million DVD-Compatible Unit Expansion Slated for July"
Richmond, Indiana, March 5, 1996 - Sanyo-Verbatim CD Company is celebrating the completed expansion of its compact disc capacity to over 50 million units annually, as well as an expansion of their pre-mastering capabilities. Further expansion to the facility's capacity will be completed in July to over 65 million units, increasing the capacity by 15 million units. This increased capacity will feature equipment capable of the production of state-of-the-art DVD units for the future, but upon installation will produce CD-ROM units. "Sanyo-Verbatim CD Company's expansion is indicative of our company's deep belief that the customer always comes first," comments Hideo Nakai, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. "The expansion enhances our already commanding reputation in the industry for offering the highest levels of quality product and service." The replicating and pre-mastering equipment is already in full operation and has gone through quality assurance tests to insure that production of the CD-ROMs, audio compact discs and the masters adheres to the company's stringent and industry leading quality standards.
Thomas Ryan, Senior Vice President of Business Development observes, "This expansion fits in with our overall philosophy to be a full service replicator that offers the finest service to our compact disc clients. As one of the largest independent replicators in the business, Sanyo-Verbatim CD Company isn't hampered by the whims and production needs of in-house labels, and as such accommodates the needs of its many clients on a superior basis time and time again." Ryan continues, "Before our expansion, our customers wanted additional capacity for the busy 3rd and 4th Quarters and we delivered over 50 million annual capacity, up 14.4 million. Now that's what I call value added service."
"The expanded Pre-Mastering Center's capabilities now allow us to handle in-house the transfer of data for pre-mastering purposes from a variety of different formats ranging from 8 mm and 4mm tape, hard drives, MO disks, CD inputs, as well as downloading files via modem link," relays Nakai. "By increasing our abilities on the front end of the process by pre-mastering our customers' data with PC, Macintosh or UNIX-based platforms, we simplify the entire CD-ROM production process for those customers who want us to take care of their pre-mastering and replicating needs from start to finish."
Tim Clatterbuck, CD-ROM Development Engineer comments, "This dramatic improvement to our facilities allows us to perform various types of media conversion and pre-master virtually any platform and format. With state-of-the-art Macintosh, Pentium and UNIX machines we have the ability to integrate video into a variety of multimedia CD-ROM applications, as well as improve our graphics capabilities." Charles Plummer, Technical Staff Engineer adds, "Our new equipment allows us to offer data-proof disks to our customers through the creation of CD-R's that function like their final CD-ROM product. We can now create mixed mode and hybrid discs for customers looking for an edge for their products."
